Picking up the hook

Updated: Jul 6, 2022

In a time of dirty diapers and constant screeching, I found the need to do something for myself that would help calm my nerves. Crocheting takes focus and some extreme counting. I always find myself wondering 'Did I just SC 8 times INC 1 for the 5th or sixth time?' It can be quite a hard task if you have trouble concentrating. This is why most of my creations bloom in the night. The silence is filled with numbers in my head and before I know it, it's 1:00 in the morning and I have just 5 1/2 hours of sleep before the baby wakes up and dads off to work.

It can be exhausting, and my knuckles cramp up after a while but the final product that is created makes me feel so accomplished!

My favorite type of crochet is Amigurumi. I love watching my creations come to life!
I Hope and plan on creating some of my own patterns for everyone to enjoy.

Balancing Mom life and Crochet

Being a first-time mom, finding the time to do what I want is just about non-existent. Nothing gets done unless I'm losing sleep over it. With that being said I'm always tired LOL. Even though I enjoy creating, sometimes the task at hand is too much for the moment; and by "moment" I mean weeks at a time! I find when I pick up the hook when I want to, rather than forcing myself to do so, I get so much more done, I even find the quality better.

Everything is better in moderation. Forcing yourself to do a task sure does suck the joy out of it. It also can be painful! I've learned from experience overexerting your body will only keep you away from your tasks longer! It can be very exciting trying to finish a brand-new project but moving your hands in the same motion for hours on end will have negative effects on your body. (It most definitely flares up my Arthritis)

I've always been excited to find things I love and hopefully make a career out it. But as soon as what I love doing turns into work, my excitement tends to die down. That is why I think it is important to balance your workload with self-care/family time. That being said take some time tonight to take care of your needs! Don't forget to give your babies lots of kisses and cuddles! Thank you for reading my blog <3
