Storyland Nostalgia Night 2022

When you were a kid, did you have that one special thing you, and your family would do every summer? In my early years, my family of 8 would take a trip to Glen, New Hampshire's Storyland! It's filled with fun rides and storybook attractions that make your inner child want to come out and play!

Now think of your favorite place you were taken as a kid; what if you were able to go there again as an adult, drink some beer, AND not have a single kid in sight? Storyland does just that! Nostalgia Night was by far one of the most fun 21+ experiences I have had! Let me tell you why!

Purchasing tickets

Nostalgia Night takes place on Saturday nights in July from 6:00pm Until 10:00pm. Storyland promoted the date the tickets would go live on sale, Weeks before the sale happened. Storyland season pass holders exclusively got early access to ticket sales prior to the online live sale. Only tickets bought specifically for the event qualify to get you in the park. Only a specific number of tickets are sold each year so if you plan on attending, you will want to buy them the date they go live to assure you can get a ticket! Tickets will NOT be sold at the gate the night of the event. You MUST be 21 year or older, they will check IDs prior to entry, and Police are on the property!

Arrival

My sister-in-law and I arrived at the park at 4:40. Nostalgia Night attendees can enter the park no earlier than 5:00pm. We were sent an email with our tickets. You can either print your tickets out or save the ticket to your phone and just scan it through at the gate! There was already a bit of a line to get in and not a lot of shade to stand in, so if you are Pale like me bring sunscreen! The park's normal hours are 9:30am-6:00pm, that being said, if you go in at 5:00 there will still be an hour transition period where families with small children are still in the park. Even though kids were still there at first, most families were leaving by the time we got there! In the first hour we got on quite a few rides with little to no line! That didn't last long though, as more adults showed up the lines got longer!

Drinks

Alcoholic beverages are not served until 6:00pm. If you plan on having a drink or two throughout the night, plan on long lines as there were only two lines to get your drinks and maybe a hundred or more very thirsty people. The line was short right at 6:00pm when I went to get a bite to eat, being naive I decided I was going to wait a little bit until I got my drink. When I came back an hour later the line grew massively, so much so I knew it would take up a too much of my time! I kept checking every now and again to see if the line was shorter, but it stayed the same for most of the duration of the event. Finally with 20 minutes left until the park closed, the line was short, and I took my chance! Earlier when I got my food, I took a look at what type of alcohol they had which I found to be quite the wide range! They had everything from Bud Lights and Trulys in cans to Fruity Margaritas, along with some draft beer! I, myself not being much of a drinker and also just recently of age to drink, played it safe and got a Bud Light! Or as I say in my head 'When in doubt Bud Light it out'

Rides

In the 10-year span since I had been to the park last, there were some newer rides along with my childhood favorites! All of the rides were in operation for the duration of the event, with the exception of Pumpkin Coach/Cinderella's Castle, Swan Boats, Pirate Ship, Carousel, Dr Geysers Raft ride, Cuckoo Clockenspiel and Rap-Tour Safari; all of these close at dusk. As I said earlier, the lines were short/non-existence when we first arrived at the park, but they got longer as the night went on. The staff was very nice and had amazing and funny attitudes! Even just walking around the park they greeted you, one even tricked me into thinking my shoe's untied! Ugh I'm so Gullible lol. They were very attentive and showed that safety is always at the front of their agenda.

The new 'Roar-o-saurus wooden roller coaster was an all-time favorite of mine! The safety bar felt exceptionally safe! It was fast, twisty, and makes your brain rattle a bit! It was so much fun!

Storybook Attractions

Storyland is filled with many storybook attractions like, Billy goats Gruff, Miss Mary Muffet, the old woman who lived in a shoe, the three little pigs, Humpty dumpty, Heidi's grandfather's mountain hut, and so much more! Most of the attractions have the story posted and others have a button to listen to the stories! It was also a favorite of mine to look at all of the animals!

What I would do differently if I went again

Before we got in line at the gate, we took out our water bottles, thinking that they didn't permit outside food and drink. Once we were in line, we saw signs stating otherwise! But we didn't mind buying waters once we were inside the park. But it will be helpful to know for next time!

If I go again, I will most defiantly get myself a drink right when they start serving it! I would also make sure to get myself a pretzel earlier on! It seemed as though in the last hour most of the little food shops were closed up! So, plan accordingly if you want to get snacky food!

Conclusion

My night was filled with laughter and childhood memories. Storyland will always have a place in my heart! I hope and plan on going again in the future! I also hope that you go ahead and relive some of your childhood memories at Nostalgia Night! Or if you've never been it's still a great experience to have! I hope sharing my experience helps any of you planning on going to this event! Thank you for reading!
